Creating the new design - the garden
The two components of the renovation and refurbishment to the house and garden require very different levels of skill. The house requires structural change to support the new look. The garden needs to have its own re-design.
The new design involved taking a flat back lawn and building a raised garden, with walls and steps, and a concrete tiled patio to establish a terrace for table and chairs, protected by a wind breaker The old shed stayed but a there was a new addition of a "tiki" bar styled out-building.
This part of the job is assisted greatly by a small digger. The whole back area needs to be taken apart so the new soil and the foundations for the necessary stonework could be laid.

Landscaping your garden - some considerations
In the example here the garden was large, though still of a manageable size typical of an urban environment. The point is that the size is not important as you may wish to improve the piece of land, or a small back area, to give your property a new external perspective.
